Student Assessment

Assessment and Support for Students

At Indigo Heartful Kids, assessments are thoughtfully designed to build a comprehensive understanding of each learner’s strengths, needs, and individual learning profile. Our goal is to ensure that every child receives the right level of support, timely interventions, and an individualized learning pathway in an inclusive, neurocognitively informed environment. All assessment practices are aligned with the hybrid CBSE–NEP 2025–26 and Cambridge (CIE) standards integrated into the Indigo Curriculum.

Types of Assessments

1. Basic Skills Assessment (BSA)

The Basic Skills Assessment serves as the foundational diagnostic tool for evaluating literacy and numeracy. Conducted twice a year—and additionally by the remedial educator when required—it assesses a child’s core English and Mathematics competencies. The BSA error analysis helps determine each learner’s instruction level and provides essential inputs for developing their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Parents receive personalised, confidential feedback in one-to-one meetings to ensure clarity and collaborative planning.

2. Formative Assessments (FA)

Aligned with Cambridge Assessment for Learning (AfL) and CBSE competency-based evaluation, four Formative Assessments are conducted each academic year for Grades III–VII. These assessments help monitor ongoing progress, guide instructional adjustments, and provide insight into the child’s conceptual understanding, reasoning, and problem-solving abilities.

3. Class Tests and Mastery Checks

Regular class tests conducted for Grades I–VII offer immediate feedback on daily and weekly learning. In addition, mastery checks—aligned with NEP competency descriptors and Cambridge learning objectives—ensure that students achieve conceptual mastery before progressing to the next level.

For Grades I and II, Term-End Assessments are conducted by parents under the supervision of teachers. This child-friendly model helps keep students relaxed, while allowing parents to better understand their child’s learning profile, strengths, and support needs.

Assessment Framework

  • Diagnostic → Formative → Mastery progression
  • Competency-based tasks (CBSE–NEP)
  • Inquiry-driven performance tasks (CIE)
  • Portfolio-based documentation of individual growth
  • Integration of Davis® Learning Strategies where relevant
