Growing Together

Simple ways to support your child at home

Small, everyday moments matter more than any single activity.

Nourish

Mealtimes are opportunities to build healthy habits and independence.

  • Offer a variety of wholesome foods and let your child experience different tastes and textures.

  • Invite your child to help with simple tasks such as washing, pouring, stirring, or serving.

  • Keep mealtimes calm and as screen-free as possible.

Rest

Children need enough rest to feel settled, happy and ready to explore.

  • Keep bedtime and wake-up routines reasonably consistent.
  • Create a calm bedtime rhythm with a story, conversation, or quiet time.
  • Notice when your child is tired and give them time to rest.

Make space for real world experiences

Children need enough rest to feel settled, happy and ready to explore.

  • Keep screen use age-appropriate and purposeful.

  • Make time for outdoor play, reading, drawing, building, and talking together.

  • When screens are used, watch and talk together where possible.

Connect

Children thrive when they feel heard, understood, and valued.

  • Give your child some undistracted time each day.

  • Listen to their stories, ideas, and questions.

  • Avoid comparisons. Every child grows at their own pace.

  • Give your child opportunities to try things independently, with support when needed.

Play, Explore, Discover

Children learn through play and everyday experiences.

  • Give them time for unhurried, self-directed play.

  • Spend time outdoors and in nature.

  • Offer simple, open-ended materials such as blocks, paper, clay, boxes, leaves, and stones.

  • Let your child make choices, experiment, and find their own way.

Stay connected, share observations, ask questions and reach out whenever you need support. We are always happy to listen and help.

Each area is equally important and plays a significant role in a child’s total capacity to learn. In teaching, it is important to remember that every child is different from every other child. Teaching skills doesn’t require a rigid schedule or a large block of time. In fact, readiness skills are best taught in small doses, with repetition overtime and without pressure. The goal is not to speed up development, but to ensure that each child has the best possible opportunity to learn and grow at each level of development. Opening the door to learning: The early years are a wonderful time; a special time for parents and children. We at Omega International School adopt a curriculum that sets the child on a path of inquiry, observation and understanding.
